So I went to Staples today to get padded envelopes so I could send out the things I've sold so far at half.com, and the place was teeming with kids buying school supplies, and I got a little misty. My favorite party of starting school was getting all the nice new notebooks and filler paper and folders that would get wadded up and thrown into my desk. (I always had a messy desk in grade school, to the point where I couldn't close my desk and had to sit at the desk next to my assigned spot on occasion.)

Lucy got spayed a few days ago (I just realized I haven't written in a while) and is doing well. She looks weird with her abdomen shaved. We bought her a bird feeder to keep her entertained while we're gone at work; hopefully she will enjoy it.

Mr. Medea and I went to this farm market on the other side of the county today to get some cider. And by "cider", I don't mean "homogenized pasteurized lukewarm stuff you get at the supermarket", I mean "watch the apples get squished before your very eyes and dripped into a big cooling tank from which the gallons are drawn." The place is always packed on the weekends in October, but today there was no one else there. The guy who was working there was saying that the crop this week was more Macintosh based, so it was tarter and lighter than October ciders, which is made from sweeter apples.

I used to work at a farm market about twelve years ago. It was great, because we got all the free corn on the cob we could stand, and I'd bring home great big bags of single grapes that had fallen off the bunches in the bottom of the boxes. (On the other hand, I once stuck my hand into a rotten cabbage I was trying to get out of a box and nearly threw up.)

But autumn is definitely my favorite time of the year. Yay autumn.
