2000-11-27 - 9:02pm So this'll just be a little rambling TV and music entry. All That You Can't Leave Behind (U2) - My favorite songs are "Elevate" and "New York". (Can you guess that my favorite album by them is Achtung Baby?) My favorite U2 story is back from 1991, when I fell asleep watching MTV and woke up at 3am to the video of "The Fly". What the heck is this?!? There's that little bit of The Edge's guitar that I hear, but this is weeeeeeeird........."Achtung Baby"? What the heck sort of name is that for an album? I was convinced I'd dreamed the whole thing, and was afraid that if I asked about it in a record store, I'd get laughed at. Battlebots - My current favorite show. If I created a Battlebot, it would get killed quickly, and I would have to make meaningful conversation with Randy and Jason Sklar. And then I would have to kill them. Iron Chef - I enjoy thinking of new and exciting main ingredients for them to use (kittens, water, Twinkies) or narrating my own cooking adventures. (Fukui-san, that pot of water she's boiling contains elbow macaroni. Then she will add milk, butter and the packet of powdered cheese.) Junkyard Wars - Sort of a combination of Battlebots and Iron Chef. There was a marathon on a few days ago and I sat from 5pm until midnight, glued to the screen. Kinda sad. (I also wonder how much of the stuff is planted by the producers. I'm thinking in particular of the "build a bomber" episode, where the one team just happened to find a roll of Mylar in the trunk of a car when they're trying to build a blimp.) The Crocodile Hunter Guy - Crikey! (Mr. Medea is watching the NBC special right now.) The X-Files - Mulder who? John Doggett is indeed a worthy new partner to Scully. I also find it amusing that she can run all over the desert without puking, whereas I can barely make it ten minutes without needing to at least think about finding a Ladies Room. (I wonder what her due date is on the show. Mine is 6/3/01, which is a Sunday and depending on how long the season runs, we could give birth on the same day.) Bootleg Detroit (Morphine) - Mark Sandman looked a lot like Jon Stewart. Why do we live in a world where Mark Sandman is dead and Michael Bolton lives on? That's about it from here.
